AMA, MedStar rank 20 EHRs by vendor use of user-centered design best practices

The American Medical Association and MedStar Health National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare have put their new EHR usability framework to the test in an evaluation of 20 common vendor products, many of which do not meet best practices for user-centered design, but are still ONC-certified. The framework uses a 15-point scale to examine the degree that vendors integrated user-centered design best practices into their EHRs, not the actual usability of the EHR as it is experienced by end users, according to the NCHFH website. Modernizing Medicine makes the top 10.
