He was installed on July 1, 2016, and his term will last through June 30, 2017.

Mark is a member of Modernizing Medicine’s executive team and has over fifteen years of experience providing legal representation to technology companies. He received an A.B. degree from Duke University and a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School.

“Diabetes can be devastating for individuals and their families, but at Modernizing Medicine we create software to help physicians improve their patient’s health outcomes,” shares Mark. “In particular, we give ophthalmologists tools to help patients with diabetic eye disease including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema (DME), cataract and glaucoma. I’m honored to further assist efforts to prevent and cure these and all types of diabetes and improve the lives those affected.”

“We are excited to have Mark join the Palm Beach County Community Leadership Board,” shares Chrissy Cohen, American Diabetes Association Interim Executive Director. “Mark has strong past Board experience and is very enthusiastic about helping the Association achieve our vision of a life free of diabetes and all its burdens. He will be a great asset to the Board.”

According to the Diabetes Research Institute, insulin serves as a “key” to open your cells, to allow the glucose to enter — and allow you to use the glucose for energy. Diabetes occurs when this system does not work. The ADA states it is estimated that one out of every three children born in the United States after the year 2000 will be directly affected by diabetes. Floridians increasingly feel the effects of diabetes as thousands of people suffer from the disease, and many others may have diabetes and not know it. In South Florida approximately over half of a million adults currently live with diabetes or prediabetes. ADA South Florida is committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and support those living with the disease.

Modernizing Medicine has formed a team to support the efforts of the upcoming 2016 Step Out: Palm Beach Walk to Stop Diabetes® on Saturday, October 29 at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach.
