When we opened our ASC in 2004, we interviewed numerous companies to find the right endoscopy report writer that would enable our team to document quickly and easily. We decided on gGastro ERW because it met our needs and was cost effective. We later implemented gGastro EHR because we found the gastroenterology software to be more user friendly and GI-specific than other solutions we witnessed.
The all-in-one gastroenterology software has helped streamline our ASC operations and save time. The intuitive system adapts to my workflow, so I can document a procedure note in three minutes or less. I’m literally done with the report as the patient is leaving the room. If I had to dictate and pay for transcription, the delay may be days. With gGastro, the referring physician receives the report instantaneously. Patients will ask, “When will my primary doctor receive the report?” and I can answer, “They already have it.”
The time in between patients has significantly diminished because the gastroenterology software is so easy to use. Since the system is ready to use right out of the box, it took just three days for one of our new physicians to learn how to use the endoscopy report writer.

When I’m preparing a letter to a referring physician, the system understands what I need and prompts me through the process. For example, if I completed a colonoscopy and found three polyps, I can simply click the type of polyp and recall for three years. It will then prompt me to note why I selected a three year follow-up procedure, and with just a few clicks, the letter is created and sent to the referring physician. Patients can also access their chart via the patient portal, gPortal™.
The beauty of having all-in-one gastroenterology software is that it simplifies our processes and reduces redundancies. The relevant data required for quality measures is captured with ease, and we can keep a pulse on overall operations. For example, we can track how long it takes a patient from check-in to checkout, and see if they are waiting too long to be discharged after a procedure. This helps our team identify areas of improvement, so we can be more efficient.
Another benefit of gGastro is the portability it provides because it’s cloud based. If I’m away from the office, I can easily access the system to view patient information and clean out my tasks, saving me from loads of paperwork when I return.
