Did you know that April is National IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) Awareness Month? With our offerings in the gastroenterology space, I thought it would be useful to share some information not only about the disease that affects 1 in 7 Americans, but also on the products that help physicians provide better care to their patients.

  • IBS affects between 25 and 45 million people in the U.S., which is about 10-15% of the population.
  • There are more than 200,000 diagnosed cases each year in the U.S.
  • Most those affected are under the age of 50.
  • Approximately 20-40% of all visits to gastroenterologists are due to IBS symptoms.
  • The exact cause is unknown and there is no cure.

I do not have to depend on the patients actually showing up to my practice to get on-going care. Instead, I can be proactive and say, ‘I’m going to take care of you and I’m going make sure these issues are addressed.’”
