The mission of the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology is to serve the total vision health care needs of the people through public and professional education, membership services, and legislative advocacy. GSO is dedicated to the public’s direct access to an ophthalmologist’s care. Exhibitor support from companies like yours make our educational mission possible. As part of GSO’s continuing education curriculum, each year it hosts two meetings that offer ophthalmologists continuing medical education (CME) opportunities. The GEM Eye Meeting began in 2009 as a way to bring eye care professionals and specialists from around the state and region together to learn, collaborate, and develop professionally. It is hosted by the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology (GSO), Emory Eye Center & Emory University School of Medicine, and the Department of Ophthalmology, Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Georgia Health Sciences University.
The Annual Meeting occurs in the summer and spans three days, offering professional development and social opportunities with colleagues. It draws primarily physicians from both private and academic practices. A large portion of the leadership is in private practice and attends the meeting. Physician representation from all the major practices around GA in attendance (i.e.: West GA Eye Clinic, Athens eye Associates, Douglasville Eye clinic, Carrollton Eye Clinic, Eye Consultants of Atlanta, Griffin Eye Clinic, Emory Eye Center providing ample opportunity to network with exhibitors.
