The Florida Fast 100 is one of the most exclusive lists created by the Florida business journals each year. In order to qualify for this year’s list, companies must be privately held, for-profit organizations headquartered in Florida, and must have been in business prior to Jan. 1, 2013. The companies must also have revenue of at least $1 million in 2013 or $5 million in 2015, and demonstrated revenue growth for the three years considered in the calculations.
The list is the result of collaboration among the Jacksonville, Orlando, South Florida and Tampa Bay business journals. It combines the invaluable business intelligence gathered by the four markets into one resource that highlights growing businesses from around the state.
The companies on this year’s list increased their revenue by a combined $3.1 billion from 2013 to 2015 – an average of 131.4 percent. The companies are well distributed throughout the state, with 33 from the Tampa Bay region, 32 from South Florida, 24 from the Orlando area and 11 from the Jacksonville area.
This year marks the fourth year of the Florida Fast 100. While a significant number of companies carried over from previous lists, 57 were new to the list this year.
One of them, Baker Klein Engineering, topped the list with a 759 percent growth from 2013 to 2015. The Jacksonville-based company, which had revenue of $2.3 million in 2013, $4.5 million in 2014 and $19.5 million in 2015, provides structural, civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering services.
