Three People to Meet at HIMSS 2017

HIMSS-blog

HIMSS is the place where the brightest minds in health and IT meet and oh so much more. So many people to meet and new things to learn. It can be a bit of an information and sensory overload walking into the Orange County Convention Center with over 60,000 other individuals in the healthcare technology field. With so many influential people to meet, we wanted to share three of the many individuals that will be representing Modernizing Medicine at HIMSS. And we may be a bit biased, but they are a few of the dynamic individuals you want to meet amidst your hectic HIMSS schedules. So without further ado, let’s meet some of the faces of Modernizing Medicine at HIMSS.

Nadeem Dhanani, MD, MPH, Medical Director of Urology

While Nadeem isn’t teaching and practicing urology at the University of Texas, Houston, he is coding Modernizing Medicine’s specialty-specific electronic health record (EHR), EMA as the Medical Director of Urology. Dr. Dhanani has a strong interest in medical innovation and device design in addition to his clinical focus on urological oncology.

Most recently, Dr. Dhanani was elected to the EHR Association Executive Committee where he helps shape the guiding principles of the EHRA and contributes to the development and execution of its strategic plans.

Conversation Starter: Definitely steal a few minutes of his time and ask him about his role as a physician who programs Modernizing Medicine’s software and what it means to be a physician coder.

Mandy Long, Vice President of Product Management

As the Vice President of Product Management, Mandy is responsible for the product strategy and direction of Modernizing Medicine’s entire software portfolio. She drives the product road map and the expansion of Modernizing Medicine’s products and services offerings to its rapidly evolving user base.

Recently, Mandy was named as chair of the HIMSS Electronic Health Record Association (EHRA) Clinician Experience Workgroup which focuses on clinician experience and usability.

A mother of three children under the age of three including 11-month old twin boys, Mandy is truly the epitome of a successful working mother in the healthcare industry who has moved up the corporate ladder and is making a mark in the healthcare technology industry.

Conversation Starter: If you see Mandy during HIMSS, be sure to pick her brain on the intersection of User Experience and Interoperability and being a woman in HIT.

Ida Mantashi, Senior Product Manager

Since joining Modernizing Medicine in 2015, Ida has since been leading the product teams’ quality reporting initiatives such as Meaningful Use, EHR Certification and MIPS as a Senior Product Manager. Just last month, Ida was named will Chair Quality Measurement Workgroup where she will assist in identifying opportunities and barriers related to how healthcare technology can facilitate improvements in care quality. The Quality Measurements Group focuses on clinical decision support and electronic quality measure collection and reporting.

Conversation Starter: Ida has a wealth of knowledge on compliance and definitely will be able to share more about Modernizing Medicine’s approach to value-based care as well as her perspective of being a woman in HIT.
