I had the opportunity to attend the HIMSS14 Annual Conference and Exhibition with other members of the Modernizing Medicine team last month. For those of you unfamiliar with HIMSS, it is a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information technology (IT). HIMSS leads efforts to optimize health engagements and care outcomes using information technology, and Modernizing Medicine is a proud member and supporter.
One of the highlights from the trip to Orlando was the opportunity to speak with Carol Flagg of HITECH Answers. She and colleague Roberta Mullin interviewed thought leaders from across the industry about the most relevant topics at the conference, and, not surprisingly, 2014 prominently featured analytics and big data.
She and I discussed the impending change from ICD-9 to ICD-10, and the possible repercussions physicians will face if they do not prepare for ICD-10 by October 1, 2014. I invite you to click here, scroll down and listen to the podcast.
Even more, feel free to leave a comment or question below as I welcome any thoughts on the interview, ICD-10, data or any other topic you feel is relevant. Thanks for listening.
