ACCOUNTING

The family office practices of Daszkal Bolton, a South Florida-based professional services firm, and Madison Family Office Services, have combined to create DB Family Office Services.

DB Family Office Services will be managed by principals Jennifer Ridgely andBarry Gurland who was the managing partner of Madison Family Office Services. The combined practice has offices throughout South Florida in Jupiter, Boca Raton, Sunrise and Aventura.

BEVERAGE

Celsius Holdings, creator and marketer of Celsius, announced the appointment of Hal Kravitz, chief executive officer of AQUAhydrate, to Celsius’ board of directors. Kravitz brings a wealth of knowledge to the Celsius board, with extensive general management experience on both the brand owner and distribution sides of the beverage business including marketing and brand management, finance and revenue management, sales, and operations.

Kravitz spent over 30 years as an officer and leader at Coca-Cola, earning credentials in general management, strategy and planning, operations, sales, marketing, business development and revenue management. After serving as president of The Glaceau Division, he successfully led the integration of the division into Coca-Cola North America.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County has announced that April Leavy has been installed as the organization’s new 2016-17 Women’s Philanthropy chair. Leavy, who serves as a vice chair on the federation board, has held leadership positions over many years within the federation and its beneficiary agencies. Most recently she served as Women’s Philanthropy campaign chair and as a federation board member. Co-owner and vice president of marketing, design and product development for Tassel Depot, Leavy has been with the company that manufactures graduation, bookmark, program tassels and elastics since 1989.

CONSTRUCTION

Hedrick Brothers Construction in West Palm Beach announced the promotion of Erik Himmel to vice president and project executive. Himmel has been building projects for Hedrick Brothers Construction since 2007. With more than 30 years of construction experience in South Florida, Massachusetts and the Caribbean, he began his career with the company as a project manager. He is knowledgeable about building and renovating high-performance and LEED certified commercial and industrial projects, parking garages, and luxury residential and equestrian estates. Himmel holds a bachelor’s degree in technical management with a major in construction management from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

In addition, Hedrick Brothers Construction announced that Thomas R. Harry has joined the company as a senior project manager. Harry has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry with multi-family, education, and municipal projects. He has held executive positions with Suffolk Construction and Turner Construction, as well as director of construction management for Yale University. Harry has a bachelor’s of science degree in construction management from Arizona State University.

And Pat Marshall has joined Hedrick Brothers as a project manager in the luxury residential division. Marshall has 30 years of experience in the construction industry building residential homes in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. His previous experience includes positions with Turtle Beach Construction, Beacon Construction and Onshore Construction.

EDUCATION

Elizabeth Bornia has launched an independent communications academy, the Communication Arts Academy, based out of a studio in West Palm Beach. The academy focuses on primary-through-middle school aged students interested in various aspects of communications. The school welcomes 4th to 8th grade students who have an interest in the communications arts. Bornia, an alumnus of Dreyfoos School of the Arts, has a degree a degree in liberal arts and sciences from University of Central Florida.

FINANCE

Rich Miller, wealth management advisor with Northwestern Mutual in Palm Beach Gardens, has been authorized by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to use the CFP and CFP certification marks in accordance with board’s certification requirements.

These marks identify individuals who have met the experience and ethical requirements, have successfully completed financial planning coursework and have passed the CFP Certification Examination covering financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning. Certificants must agree to meet continuing education requirements and to uphold the board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Financial Planning Practice Standards.
