The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches announced Susan Shulman Pertnoy as its new board chair in Palm Beach Gardens. Outgoing interim co-chairs Harold Danenbergand Robert Schneider will continue to serve as senior vice chairs and secretary and treasurer, respectively. David Friedlander, Doreen Lieberman and Shayne Silverwere installed as first-time members of the board. During the annual meeting, the following awards were presented: Leslie Santelli was honored with the Steven Shapiro New Leadership Award, presented each year to a leader in the community who has made a significant contribution to the JCC. The Charles M. Jacobson Leadership Award was presented to Paul Gross, in recognition of the role he played in establishing the Mandel JCC building in Palm Beach Gardens and spearheading renovations at the agency’s building in Boynton Beach. The Sabina Gottschalk Volunteer Award was presented toGayle Gross for her volunteer efforts for the Lyons Art Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens. A special Staff Recognition Award was bestowed to Human Resources Director Jan Andioand Jupiter Medical Center Wellness Navigator Tiffany Jones..

Education

Saint Mark’s Episcopal School in Fort Lauderdale announced the hiring of a new director of admissions, Tessy Wassmann. She was previously in this role at Gulliver Academy in Miami for five years.Before that, she was director of college counseling at Gulliver Preparatory School’s Pinecrest campus.

New members were elected to the board of the Palm Beach Day Academy board of rustees.They are Juliana Gendelman, Andrea Kosoy, Tim Mullen, Caroline Rafferty, Charles Schumacher and Maura Ziska Christu. Lourdes Fanjul is incoming president, and the officers will include Frances Fisher, vice president; Will Matthews, vice-president; Grant Mashek, treasurer; and Stephanie Carden, secretary. Gendelman works for a Los Angeles-based app development company. Kosoy is a volunteer at PBDA, including as vice president of the Parent School Council. Mullen is a private investor at BurlingRidge LLC. Rafferty is an interiors, furniture and textiles designer. Schumacher is president of The Schumacher Automotive Group. Ziska Christu is a partner at Kochman & Ziska PLC. The new board also will include ex-officio members Dr. Edwin Gordon, incoming Head of School, and Amy Middleton, Parent School Council president. Palm Beach Day Academy is located on two campuses, one in Palm Beach and one in West Palm Beach.

Landscape architecture

Urban Design Kilday Studios, a planning and landscape architecture firm, has added four planning and design professionals to its West Palm Beach office: Jan Polson, Sofia Garantiva,Brittany Bourgault and Kevin Kroll. Bourgault joins the firm’s landscape architectural division as a landscape designer. She previously worked in Jacksonville as a landscape designer for Ervin, Lovett & Miller and as a business/research analyst and program consultant for Pontoon Solutions. Polson rejoined the firm as a project manager after nearly 10 years working as a senior land planner for another local planning firm, and most recently a permit procurement specialist for a signage company.Garantiva has become a full-time member of the planning staff after working as a summer intern at UDKS. Kroll joined as a landscape designer from Texas.

Peter Olrich has been named director of college counseling and guidance for Gulliver Prep (grades 9-12). He will begin July 1, moving from Brooks School in North Andover, Mass., where he is the dean of college counseling.

Medical, Wellness

Modernizing Medicine Inc., creator of a cloud-based electronic health record system, has named Rick Von Pusch as the company’s first chief revenue officer in Boca Raton. He will oversee the sales, marketing and business development teams. He was previously senior vice president of sales, marketing and operations for Dealertrack, a software provider for the automotive and lending industries. Before Dealertrack, he was vice president of U.S. retail sales for Reynolds and Reynolds, a software provider in the automotive industry.

Mark Vogtner has been named the chief information officer for Henderson Behavioral Health in Fort Lauderdale. Previously, Vogtner was vice president of IT at AspenPointe, a community behavioral health and social enterprise in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Construction

Alex Lastra, senior managing director of Atlantic | Pacific Development, was named the 22nd president of the Latin Builders Association in Miami.

Finance

The following have recently joined The Eppy Group: Gary Seymour in Fort Lauderdale;Marc Bettinger as director of planning and financial analyst; Stefan Marshall from MassMutual Miami Weston office; Jeremiah Beguesse, investment and insurance advisor; Yosef Bukiet,producer; and, Nicole Powell, MDRT top of the table producer.

Fernando Ferreira Dias has joined Terrabank N.A as vice president and business development officer for the retail domestic division in Miami. He was previously vice president and branch sales leader for BankUnited and branch manager at AmTrust Bank.Carlos Navarro joinedTerrabank N.A. asvice president and credit card manager. Prevoiusly, Navarro acted as product manager at Banco de Bogota in Bogota, Colombia.

Lifestyle

Julie Clary was named Acts Retirement-Life Communities regional director of sales, southeast region, responsible for growing occupancy and market awareness at Edgewater Pointe Estates, Saint Andrews Estates, Indian River Estates and Azalea Trace. In the past, Clary was regional marketing director for Sunbridge Healthcare Corp., director of marketing for Interim Healthcare and most recently director of sales at Erickson Living in Tinton Falls, N.J.

Law

Rudolph & Associates LLC in West Palm Beach named attorney Jaclyn Soroka as partner. Soroka has been with the firm for four years. She began her legal career as an assistant public defender at the Miami Dade Public Defender’s Office.

Real estate

Maxwell Realty International, affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate for Miami-Dade and Broward counties, announced new associates in Weston:Laura Baeza, Rene Cruz-Espaillat, Carter Kurth, Elizabeth Navarro, Felix Nunez, Athena Saldanha, Ainoa Solorzano, Anthony Thomas and Armando Valdes. Baeza previously worked as a teacher for Cambridge Schools in Weston; Cruz-Espaillat worked as a project consultant for Global Energy Efficiency in New York City; Kurth previously worked as a sales associate for CBRE Group in Brickell; Navarro was president and CEO for Front Stage in Puerto Rico; Nunez worked as a Realtor for Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Miramar; Saldanha worked as a Realtor for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty in Pembroke Pines; Solorzano was an artist; Thomas was president of Vanguard Unite in Miami; and Valdes was a sales associate and cashier for Target Corp.

Newmark Grubb Knight Frank announced that Steve Medwin and Nick Wigoda joined the firm as executive managing directors in the Miami office. Both were previously with JLL’s Miami office.

NAI Miami announced that Robin Llanes has been promoted to director of administration.Llanes joined NAI Miami in 2004 in positions such as assisting the accounting department to managing lease abstractions and commission disbursements.

Public relations

The Association for Women in Communications South Florida chapter honored public relations specialist Linda Hamburger for her achievements in public relations, advocacy, and mentor through her roles as founder of the South Florida Public Relations Network, president of On Call PR and On Call Resumes, Boca Raton.
