  • Reach vulnerable patient populations conveniently
  • Screen patients whether your offices are open or closed
  • See patients prior to renewing prescriptions
  • Accommodate your existing clinical workflow
  • Minimize risk of exposure for your patients and staff

ModMed Telehealth 2.0

With the emergence of the current healthcare crisis, the medical community is more fully realizing the potential of telemedicine. It can be invaluable—helping doctors and patients stay connected, without risking their own health or that of their patients.

Additionally, our EMA EHR system has been populated with medical content for current illnesses, and we plan to add additional content as interim CDC guidelines are updated.

This video telemedicine platform can benefit both healthcare professionals and patients

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the latest questions and answers regarding our upcoming telemedicine release and other related solutions. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Contact us.

When will I be able to use your ModMed Telehealth solution?

We are rolling out this solution in phases, starting with our on-staff physicians (planning for the week of March 16th) and then making it available for current EMA customers. Our team is diligently working to have this out to you as soon as possible. Prior to the release, you will have the opportunity to sign up for our upcoming webinar which will provide an overview of our new telemedicine solution and how to use it.

In parallel, Modernizing Medicine is working on a telehealth solution for our gGastro clients.

Is the Telehealth / APPatient solution available to gGastro clients?

No, we are currently evaluating potentials for telehealth in gGastro. More details to come.

In the interim, as of March 17, 2020, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) released updated guidance related to the application of HIPAA to the use of remote communication technologies to communicate with patients and provide telehealth services during the current public health emergency that may assist you in determining how best to continue to treat your patients during this time.

Is WiFi required for APPatient?

The app will work with both WiFi and cellular connection. WiFi is not required.

How do I tell my patients about our video telemedicine service?

Additional materials including a website will be forthcoming. Please check back soon.

If I am not currently a Modernizing Medicine client, can I just sign up for the telemedicine solution?

No, right now the telemedicine solution is only available for current and future EMA clients.

How will I be reimbursed?

On March 30, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released an Interim Final Rule that makes a number of changes intended to further support the provision of services to patients during this Public Health Emergency. Full details of the changes can be found here. Although the rule was published this week, all of the changes made in the rule were made effective retroactive to March 1, 2020.

This new rule, combined with prior guidance, makes clear that healthcare professionals can provide and bill, and CMS will reimburse, for a variety of telemedicine services for Medicare beneficiaries residing across the country from a range of locations, including their homes. This new guidance temporarily lifts restrictions that have historically limited coverage of telemedicine to services provided to residents of rural areas and generally permits services to be provided to both new and established patients. CMS maintains a list of services that may be furnished via telehealth, which should be referenced to determine what services will be reimbursed if provided to Medicare beneficiaries under this new guidance. To keep up-to-date on the guidance that has been issued by CMS in connection with this public health emergency, please visit CMS’s Coronavirus Waivers and Flexibilities resource page found here. Providers should continue to review their contracts with commercial payors and seek updated guidance from such payors to understand whether they will similarly be loosening their reimbursement requirements and what restrictions, limitations or rules will apply.

*Certain terms and conditions may apply to the use of ModMed Telehealth and APPatient, and other Modernizing Medicine telemedicine solutions. Modernizing Medicine has the right to revise its pricing for the use of ModMed Telehealth or APPatient or other Modernizing Medicine telemedicine solutions at any time. Use of ModMed Telehealth and APPatient or other Modernizing Medicine telemedicine solutions may in the future be contingent on paying fees or other charges determined by Modernizing Medicine. A subscription to EMA is required in order to use ModMed Telehealth and APPatient. Fees for the use of EMA and Modernizing Medicine’s other products and services continue to apply. It is each provider’s responsibility to determine that the telemedicine visit meets medical necessity for that patient. Not all clinical scenarios may be appropriate for telemedicine visits, and the provider may need to evaluate the patient in person to establish a diagnosis or initiate treatment.

We are working diligently to bring convenience, access and efficiency of care to the healthcare community.
