By now if you have an Apple device chances are you upgraded to iOS 11 when Apple released it in September 2017.

What You Need to Know Now – iOS 11

While we all experience the new features included with each bright and shiny software edition, sometimes unintended consequences pop up. What’s the scoop with Apple’s latest upgrade? In order to run iOS 11, Modernizing Medicine’s customers may need to update their devices. Why? iOS 11 will not work on iPad 4, and it may not work on others. Click here for a list of Apple’s iOS 11 compatible devices detailed at the bottom of the web page.

What’s the takeaway? Please plan to upgrade to iOS 11. It will be required to run Modernizing Medicine’s 5.9 release scheduled for Q1 of 2018. And you won’t want to miss what’s in this release, including improvements to Orders, Results, Tasking and Practice Management enhancements around allocator and appointment management.

Benefits from upgrading to iOS 11

At the end of August, we wrote a blog post around how the healthcare industry can benefit from various iOS 11 updates. The blog provides useful insights into how Modernizing Medicine can take advantage of iOS 11 to build the next generation healthcare features and products.

The Need for Speed

Another nice benefit of new hardware is the speed and improved performance. The latest iPad Pro is up to 6.5 times faster than the iPad 4, while the graphics performance can be 14 times faster between the two devices. There is no comparison, and now is the perfect time to begin to experience the time savings of up to 10 seconds per patient when you update your device. Depending on how many patients you see per day, that may add up to saving 45 minutes per week with the newer systems. In other words, you may make up the cost of the new iPad within a month or so. You don’t know what you’re missing!
