Curalta Foot + Ankle is rapidly expanding, with over 60 locations and 100 providers, aiming to acquire dozens more in the Northeast. Before and after acquisitions, their team works closely with providers and staff, onboarding them onto ModMed® Podiatry, which includes ModMed Practice Management (PM) and ModMed Pay. By centralizing teams on ModMed, the group standardizes how practices operate to increase efficiency and revenue. ModMed helps streamline financial operations, improves coding accuracy, and increases opportunities for provider and patient satisfaction.

An all-in-one platform connects dozens of practices

As vice president at Curalta Foot + Ankle, I oversee the integration of newly acquired practices across our growing network. One of our first priorities is bringing these teams onto ModMed Podiatry. The platform helps us to integrate new practices into Curalta by offering structured data conversion, tailored training for physician and staff and continued customer support post Go Live.

Our strategy is simple: We transition everyone to ModMed from day one. We often begin training, including physicians and staff, four weeks before closing an acquisition. During go-live, a dedicated point person supports the transition, and we continue training post-launch. The ModMed U video library is an important part of this process. It gives new users a strong foundation so that in-person training is more productive. Training doesn’t end there. Since ModMed supports more advanced ancillary operations like pathology and diabetic shoe services, we continue the training process post go live, during the practice’s early days at Curalta Foot + Ankle.

This consistent, hands-on approach allows me to ensure that operations align with our broader organizational goals. It also helps centralize services and reporting, reduces cost to serve and improves data clarity to guide growth strategies across our organization.

Eligibility checks streamline financial operations

Standardizing practice management has a major impact on financial performance. Many practices we acquire haven’t been consistently conducting eligibility checks. With ModMed in place, staff can now confirm eligibility before visits, which makes payer and billing workflows more efficient.

For example, when a new patient calls, our staff can run eligibility on the spot. All our practice administrators perform a schedule scrub that reviews patient status before appointments to catch issues like missing referrals. At the group level, this process reduces denials, improves predictability in collections and helps patients pay more reliably.

Suggested coding prompts improve billing accuracy

We also see stronger coding consistency thanks to ModMed’s integrated suggested coding tools. Our team measures this by tracking both revenue shifts and comparing chart audits before and after the acquisition.
The improvement is clear. Providers no longer have to manually search for the right codes or modifiers because suggested prompts are built into the documentation process. For new users, it’s often a light bulb moment. Once they see how coding works, they realize how much easier their day can be.
One physician told me, “Wait, I don’t need to input codes anymore?” That reaction is common. Now, they just document the visit, review the suggestions and move on. This saves time and reduces the risk of errors.

Keeping providers and patients happy after acquisition

The ease of use with ModMed can restore joy to practicing medicine. Freed from administrative burdens, some providers choose to stay with us longer than anticipated. We have acquired some providers that were close to retirement and have decided to delay their retirement. They have stated the reduction of administrative burdens and ease of charting with ModMed has given them the ability to focus on patient care and they are so much happier.

Many practices lacked key metrics before joining Curalta Foot + Ankle. They didn’t have structured workflows or clear KPIs. With ModMed, they gain visibility into performance and can make meaningful improvements. This continuity helps us maintain patient satisfaction as well. We often seek practices with strong provider reputations. When those physicians stay on, it helps keep patients loyal and confident in the care they receive.

With a powerful, specialty-specific solution in place, Curalta Foot + Ankle is equipped to grow efficiently. The platform supports providers, improves operations and delivers better care at scale.
