How to Extend Interoperability With ModMed Records Exchange and gGastro
The ModMed® Records Exchange integration makes it easy for gastroenterologists and ASCs to streamline health data exchange
As the healthcare industry begins to realize the benefits of interoperability, gastroenterologists and ASCs can streamline the ways in which they exchange health data by using advanced solutions. Accordingly, ModMed Records Exchange can support healthcare organizations across the United States in the achievement of greater connectivity within simple, effective workflows.
With this integration, you and your staff can access, update and provide access to comprehensive patient records directly from the patient’s chart within ModMed’s gGastro® or ASC solution. Use of ModMed Records Exchange also qualifies toward part of your MIPS scoring. For more about how you can start using ModMed Records Exchange in ModMed, request a demo.
What is ModMed Records Exchange?
ModMed Records Exchange is an interoperability framework that connects health information networks throughout the United States.
Through the partnerships of the network, ModMed gGastro EHR and ASC clients can access the Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) of other providers, institutions, payers and healthcare HIEs. ModMed Records Exchange’s scale can increase real-time records access and overall interoperability between practices of all sizes and U.S. geographies.
Benefits of ModMed Records Exchange
By integrating ModMed Records Exchange with ModMed’s gGastro or ASC software, GI practices and ASCs can streamline the exchange of healthcare data.
Patient records are accessible for review and import within gGastro, helping ease patient transitions and reduce the time and manual efforts your staff spends on tasks associated with patient transfers and records requests, such as faxing documentation.
ModMed Records Exchange interoperability
ModMed Records Exchange extends the interoperability of electronic health records (EHRs) by sharing clinical data between systems quickly and easily.
Many networks provide connectivity, but only within their membership, which may be limited by the geographic market a network serves or other factors. While any network connectivity can still provide value, the more expansive connectivity of the ModMed Records Exchange network allows providers to access records from a more comprehensive, nationwide network.
Seamless integration
The ModMed Records Exchange network also may eliminate the need to build custom interfaces or set up VPN tunnels, the typical encrypted links between your system and outside networks.
The network connects diverse organizations, including EHRs, record locator service (RLS) providers and other private and public networks.
Easier access to patient documentation
If you integrate ModMed Records Exchange with gGastro, a ModMed Records Exchange button is added to patient charts, allowing you and your staff to search the network by name or other identifiers and retrieve documents in C-CDA format for viewing or import. The solution is two-way, providing others within the network access to your patient records, too.
For example, if you use gGastro, you could use the ModMed Records Exchange button the day before or the morning of an appointment to access a patient’s medical history. You could search the patient’s name and narrow the results by other identifiers, like current or past zip codes.
During the visit, you could use gGastro to document the encounter with the patient, automatically updating the availability of the records in ModMed Records Exchange. If another provider needed to review your documentation, they could also use ModMed Records Exchange to retrieve the details of your visit.
ModMed Records Exchange can support MIPS requirements
In addition to ModMed Records Exchange’s ability to reduce manual efforts, being part of the ModMed Records Exchange community may help fulfill one of your measures for MIPS.
MIPS allows CMS to adjust physician reimbursements based on the evaluation of four key performance indicators: quality, interoperability, cost and improvement activities.
When you share information via the ModMed Records Exchange network, you may satisfy the HIE bi-directional exchange measure, a yes or no attestation that may be worth 30 points. Organizations that initiate and respond to queries from other ModMed Records Exchange network members can request a letter of support from ModMed Records Exchange for the measure.
Connecting with ModMed Records Exchange in gGastro
For providers seeking to scale the benefits of interoperability at their gastroenterology practice or ASC, the ModMed Records Exchange integration can represent a way forward. The ease of use with gGastro can help reduce the effort, time gap and costs associated with manual records requests or custom-built interfaces.
