According to the Yoga Health Foundation, September is the official National Yoga Month (a national observance designated by the Department of Health & Human Services) designed to educate about the health benefits of yoga and to inspire a healthy lifestyle.
MMFIT, which stands for Modernizing Medicine Fitness in Technology, is a spinoff from our MMwit group and is a company-wide initiative to provide Modernizing Medicine employees with health and wellness opportunities to promote employee health and work-life balance. MMFIT is proud to host on-site yoga classes for all Modernizing Medicine employees.
Here’s what some of our yogis say about the benefits of practicing yoga during the work day at Modernizing Medicine:
-I like being able to learn the practice and fit it into my schedule. Also, getting to know my co-workers who have been attending the classes is an added benefit.-Antonio Rivera
-The benefits are threefold; strengthening core muscles, increased flexibility and better mental health. -Neil Gealy
-Yoga calms my body and mind for the rest of the day. -Aaron Richter
-Practicing yoga helps reduce stress and increase flexibility. – Karuna Vootukuri
-The benefits of practicing at work include increasing my physical fitness and the time and convenience factor. -Jaime Rodriguez
-And if you’re still having doubts on why you should hop on the namaste bandwagon, we have five reasons that may turn those doubts upside down.
5 Reasons to Practice Yoga:
- Helps to reduce stress
- Increases concentration and focus
- Reduces future injuries by increasing flexibility and range of motion
- Helps build your physical strength and mental fortitude
- Cultivates the mind body connection
