Shoban Dave, MD

Allergy Team Lead

Dr. Shoban Dave is the Allergy Team Lead and is board-certified in Allergy-Immunology. In this role, he is responsible for designing and developing content for the ModMed Allergy electronic health record platform.

Dr. Dave received his Medical Doctorate and Bachelor of Science degrees from Pennsylvania State University as part of an integrated program through Schreyer Honors College. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Medical University of South Carolina and his Allergy & Immunology fellowship at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Dave has practiced in large and small health care systems, actively leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and quality of care. As an early user of both Klara and XTRACT SOLUTIONS, he views technology as a tool to enhance both the patient and provider experience.

Dr. Dave practices at Flatiron Allergy and Asthma Center and has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by 5280 Magazine and Baltimore Magazine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology.

Michael Sherling, MD, MBA

Chief Medical and Strategy Officer & Co-Founder

Dr. Michael Sherling is cofounder and Chief Medical and Strategy Officer of ModMed®. His personal passion aligns with the company’s mission of transforming how healthcare information is created, consumed and utilized to increase practice efficiency and patient outcomes. As a practicing physician, he knows firsthand just how important specialty-specific knowledge and workflows are, when it comes to saving time and focusing on patient care.

Michael is responsible for the strategy and medical innovation within the ModMed suite of products and services for dermatology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, otolaryngology and urology specialties. Under his leadership, ModMed has established a growing user base of over 15,000 providers.

Michael is a dynamic public speaker and has had the honor of presenting at various industry events including: the Association of Dermatology Administrators & Managers (ADAM) Annual Meetings since 2017, the 2016 Dermatology Entrepreneurship Conference and the 2015 Health 2.0 Conference, “Tools to Fix the Clinical User Experience.”

Michael has been a practicing dermatologist since 2006 and currently practices in a comprehensive skin care dermatology group in Palm Beach County, Florida. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.

Prior to relocating to Florida, he was the Associate Director of Laser Medicine and Skin Health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and served as the Associate Residency Program Director for Harvard Medical School’s Department of Dermatology. He has several publications in peer-reviewed medical literature.

Michael obtained his BS in Biology at Brown University with honors in 1996, his MD from Yale School of Medicine with honors in 2002 and his MBA from Yale School of Management in 2002. He received his clinical training at Harvard Medical School, where he served as chief resident in dermatology.

Jordan Miller, MD

Principal Medical Director of Dermatology

Dr. Jordan Miller is the Principal Medical Director of Dermatology. As one of the first ModMed® clients, he quickly became a “super-user.” Today, as a practicing dermatologist, Dr. Miller leads development of the dermatology-specific electronic health record system and works with clients to create specialty-specific software.

Dr. Miller is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where he also completed his dermatology residency. A native of Northern Arizona, he also started his career in private practice in Arizona after attending Brigham Young University and graduating in 2000. He is board certified in dermatology and his practice centers on medical and surgical dermatology, including Mohs’ micrographic surgery.

C. Lynn Cheng, MD

Dermatology Team Lead

Dr. C. Lynn Cheng is the Dermatology Team Lead and is a board-certified dermatologist. In this role, she is responsible for designing and developing content for the ModMed® Dermatology electronic health record platform.

Dr. Cheng received her bachelor of science degree, magna cum laude, and her medical degree from Duke University. She completed her dermatology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Upon completion, Dr. Cheng worked in private practice in Wisconsin before moving back to North Carolina. She currently works at Central Dermatology Center in Chapel Hill where she focuses on medical dermatology.

Dr. Cheng is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Jason Sugar, MD

Gastroenterology Team Lead

Dr. Jason Sugar is the lead gastroenterologist for ModMed. He received his bachelor of science in biology at the University of Iowa and his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Sugar practices gastroenterology full time at Washington Gastroenterology, where he also serves as chief medical officer. He also has extensive experience in practice management and operations.

Ariel Rodriguez, MD

General Surgery Team Lead

Dr. Ariel Rodriguez is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon and the General Surgery Team Lead at ModMed®, where he applies his clinical expertise to develop AI-driven tools for surgical practice.

Dr. Rodriguez completed his surgical residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA, followed by a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of South Florida. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS).

Early in his career, Dr. Rodriguez served as vice chair of surgery and director of a hospital-based bariatric surgery program, overseeing clinical operations, outcomes, and surgical education — experience that continues to inform his approach to operative technique and systems development.

Over a career spanning more than 15 years and 2,000-plus bariatric procedures, his clinical focus has centered on minimally invasive and ambulatory surgery. Dr. Rodriguez is based in Delray Beach, FL.

Nigel A. Spier, MD

Medical Director of OBGYN

Dr. Nigel A. Spier is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologic surgeon and a medical director of obstetrics and gynecology at ModMed®. In this role, he helps design and develop content for the ModMed OBGYN EHR system, drawing on over 25 years of clinical experience.

Dr. Spier is a champion for digital solutions that empower clinicians to reclaim their time so they can focus on patient care and achieve the best possible outcomes. He has extensive experience with integrating EMR workflows and has been featured on Apple’s “Macs in Business” website.

Dr. Spier received his MD from McGill University and completed his residency at George Washington University. He is the Past Chief of OBGYN at Memorial Regional Hospital, in Hollywood, Florida, where he currently serves as Chief of Staff.

Hung Ecklund, MD

Medical Director of OBGYN

Dr. Hung Ecklund is the medical director of obstetrics and gynecology at ModMed®. In this role, she helps design and develop content for the ModMed OBGYN-specific EHR, drawing on two decades of clinical experience. She is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologic surgeon.

Dr. Ecklund strives to provide excellent, comprehensive and compassionate care, and treats every patient as if they were members of her own family. She is passionate about developing a medical record system that delivers on the promise of being more efficient and productive, one that helps doctors spend less time documenting and more time doing what they were called to do — care for patients.

Dr. Ecklund obtained her undergraduate degree in biological sciences from the University of Southern California where she graduated summa cum laude. She earned her MD from Yale University School of Medicine and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California in Irvine, serving as the administrative chief in her final year. Dr. Ecklund has remained in her long-time OBGYN practice with the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, where she continues to care for patients in the Bay Area. She will be providing gynecological services to low-income and uninsured individuals through her volunteer work with Samaritan House, a highly-respected free clinic in San Mateo County.

Michael B. Rivers, MD

Director of Ophthalmology

Dr. Michael B. Rivers is the Director of Ophthalmology. In this role, he helps ModMed® evolve the ophthalmology platform by combining his years of experience as a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina surgeon with his expertise implementing and using the EMA® EHR system at the Retina Group of Washington (RGW). Michael speaks with physician users, listens to their needs and communicates them to the development, customer success and other teams at ModMed.

Michael was a practicing ophthalmologist, partner and board member at RGW in Washington, DC, from 1991 until 2017. In addition, he was a Surgical Retina and Vitreous Fellow at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1989 to 1991.

No stranger to the intersection of technology and medicine, Michael wrote a computer database to help automate his clinic and manage patient information electronically while he was a resident. He is passionate about helping doctors be better doctors by diminishing the time and effort needed to run the business, so they can spend more time with patients.

The Georgetown Ophthalmology Department has honored Michael twice as Teacher of the Year. In addition, RGW recognized him for his exceptional efforts with the transition to their EHR system.

Michael obtained his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Princeton University and was elected to join Sigma Xi, the national Scientific Research Honor Society, and earned his MD from Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at The New York Hospital Department of Ophthalmology.

Eric Jennings, MD

Medical Director of Ophthalmology

Dr. Eric Jennings is the Medical Director of Ophthalmology. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, refractive surgery and the management of corneal and external disease.

Dr. Jennings completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, graduating with honors. He then received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency as well as a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident and was recognized with several awards including Resident of the Year and the Teaching Scholars Outstanding Educator.

Dr. Jennings practices as a referral ophthalmologist in Atlanta, Georgia where he specializes in cataract, refractive and corneal surgery. His other interests include AI in healthcare and digital health solutions. In addition, his experience as a consultant, beta tester and super user has allowed him to integrate the latest technology into his practice, as well as help innovate new technology used in medicine and healthcare.

Dr. Jennings is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. He has been an active participant in several clinical studies, including helping to pioneer pre-loaded DMEK (corneal transplant) tissue.

Paul Gallogly, MD

Ophthalmology Team Lead, Posterior Segment

Dr. Paul Gallogly is the Ophthalmology Team Lead, Posterior Segment. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist who received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Florida. He graduated with honors and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Gallogly completed an internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. Following his internship, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.

In addition, Dr. Gallogly completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where he served as chief resident, Co-Director of Ocular Trauma and a member of the Residency Selection Committee. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Florida Society of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Gallogly has been an active participant in a number of clinical studies and has published articles in distinguished medical journals.

Elana M. Oberstein, MD, MPH

Senior Medical Director of Musculoskeletal

Dr. Elana M. Oberstein is Senior Medical Director of Musculoskeletal. A board-certified internist with a subspecialty in Arthritis and Autoimmune Disease, Dr. Oberstein is also a certified clinical densitometrist (CCD) with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.

Dr. Oberstein received her bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, from Harvard University. Dr. Oberstein graduated with research distinction from the University of Miami School of Medicine with a dual medical degree and master of public health. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She served as chief medical resident for the Department of Medicine. Subsequently, she completed a fellowship in the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology. During her time at the University of Miami, Dr. Oberstein was inducted into the Iron Arrow Society, the highest honor attainable at the University.

Dr. Oberstein now serves as a voluntary faculty member with the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Oberstein serves as a mentor to first and second year medical students. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, Florida Society of Rheumatology and the American College of Rheumatology (ACR). She has presented original scholarly work at the Annual Session of the ACR. She is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Suezie Kim, MD, FAAOS

Medical Director of Orthopedics

Dr. Suezie Kim is a Medical Director of Orthopedics at ModMed. With extensive expertise in basic and complex sports medicine, trauma and general orthopedic surgery, she has established herself as a board-certified professional in the field. Dr. Kim is passionate about treating athletic injuries and performing arthroscopic surgery on the hips, knees and shoulders.

After completing her medical training at the University of Vermont, College of Medicine in Burlington, VT, Dr. Kim did her orthopedic residency at the prestigious Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York.

An engaged professional, Dr. Kim maintains memberships with esteemed organizations such as the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. Additionally, she is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Kim currently practices orthopedics at Tucson Orthopaedic Institute and is affiliated with esteemed hospitals in Tucson, AZ, including TMC Healthcare-Tucson and Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital.

David Wei, MD, MS

Medical Director of Orthopedics

Dr. David Wei is a Medical Director of Orthopedics at ModMed. He is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Wei’s surgical expertise includes microsurgical nerve reconstruction, arthroscopic treatment of wrist and elbow disorders, tendon reconstruction and repair, and endoscopic treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. He diagnoses and treats various upper extremity conditions in both pediatric and adult patients, such as arthritis, fractures, sports injuries and nerve compression syndromes.

Graduating from Yale University with honors, Dr. Wei holds a combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He earned his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his residency training at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University. Subsequently, he pursued fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Tufts University Medical Center/New England Baptist Hospital.

Dr. Wei has authored and published numerous peer-reviewed articles in esteemed orthopedic journals. He has been invited to present his work at various regional, national and international meetings for associations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), American Orthopaedic Association (AOA), and the Congress of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology.

David Lehman, MD

Senior Principal Medical Director of Otolaryngology & Allergy

Dr. David Lehman is Senior Principal Medical Director of Otolaryngology & Allergy. Dr. Lehman completed his undergraduate studies at Yale University in 1995. After spending a year as a research diver for the University of Miami, he entered medical school at the University of Florida, graduating as co-valedictorian in 2000. He then returned to his hometown of Miami to enter residency at University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Lehman was a partner at Palm Beach Ear, Nose, and Throat Association from 2005 to 2015, and at ENT and Allergy Associates of Florida from 2015 to 2025, practicing as a general otolaryngologist – head and neck surgeon. For many years, his main practice interests were in the field of head and neck surgery, specializing in surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands and advanced skin cancers of the head and neck, including melanoma. He also has an interest in advanced endoscopic sinus surgery techniques, and was one of a small number of surgeons in Florida regularly performing endoscopic orbital decompression surgery for Graves’ eye disease. He recently left private practice and now donates his time and services at Mission Medical Center in Delray Beach, FL. Dr. Lehman has served as the Chief of Surgery at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, from 2008 – 2010.

Joel Salamon, MD

Medical Director of Pain Management

Dr. Joel Salamon serves as the Medical Director of Pain Management. He graduated from the University of Chicago and earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Following this, he completed his internship and anesthesia residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Subsequently, he underwent fellowship training in pain management at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Salamon is board-certified in anesthesiology with a subspecialty certification in pain management. He is also board-certified in pain management by the American Board of Pain Medicine. He has been nominated three times for the Florida Choice Award for Best Pain Management Physician, which recognizes excellence in workers’ compensation medical care, winning it once.

Dr. Salamon is highly knowledgeable in a wide range of pain management treatments. He specializes in interventional procedures such as epidural steroid injections, facet injections, sympathetic blocks, radiofrequency and neuroablative procedures, and intradiscal procedures. He has a particular interest in spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery and has also worked as an instructor for Medtronic Corporation, teaching these procedures to other physicians.

Michael A. Brickman, MD

Medical Director of Plastic Surgery

Dr. Michael Brickman is the Medical Director of Plastic Surgery. He is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been in private practice in Huntington, NY, since 2007. After using two other EHR systems, he switched to ModMed® in 2017 and never looked back. He is pleased that ModMed will be the last EHR he will ever need.

As medical director, Dr. Brickman’s goal is to field suggestions and recommendations from his fellow EMA® users and continue to make improvements to what he feels is already the best product in the space. As the product keeps improving, so do the practices using it.

Dr. Brickman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Indiana University and his medical degree from St. George’s University of Medicine. He graduated from his General Surgery residency at the University of Hawaii and completed his Plastic Surgery training at Nassau University Medical Center, which is run by the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group.

John V. Guiliana, DPM, MS

Medical Director of Podiatry

Dr. Guiliana is a nationally recognized speaker and author on topics pertaining to medical practice management. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management and holds a master’s degree in Healthcare Management. He has authored numerous columns in various journals and is the co-author of 31 ½ Essentials to Running Your Medical Practice, as well as The Million Dollar Practice…Keys to Success. Catherine Churchill, DPM

Medical Director of Podiatry

Dr. Catherine Churchill is the Medical Director of Podiatry at ModMed^®. Her extensive experience in podiatric surgery makes her a natural fit for her role in developing and directing podiatric content for EMA^®.

Dr. Churchill completed her undergraduate education at Tulane University in New Orleans. She then attended Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, where she graduated as class valedictorian. She also completed a three-year residency program in foot and ankle surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and is currently board-certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

In addition to her role at ModMed, Dr. Churchill also holds a teaching position as the Assistant Residency Director of the podiatric surgery residency training program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Nadeem Dhanani, MD, MPH

Medical Director of Urology

Dr. Nadeem Dhanani is the Medical Director of Urology. He received his bachelor of science degree from Duke University in Biology and Public Policy Studies, graduating cum laude. He earned his degree in medicine at the University of Florida, followed by an internship in general surgery and residency in Urological Surgery at the University of Texas – Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center. He completed further subspecialty fellowship training in Urologic Oncology at the National Cancer Institute on the campus of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Dhanani also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Dhanani was the chief of urology at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Boston, in addition to serving on faculty at Harvard Medical School and as a member of the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center. He was also on staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and the Director of Robotic Surgery at Mt. Auburn Hospital.

Dr. Dhanani has a specific interest in medical innovation and device design, in addition to his clinical focus on urologic oncology, and continues to collaborate with the Harvard School of Engineering and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition to being named to the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list in 2013, Dr. Dhanani was awarded a Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) grant for prevention and early detection for bladder cancer research in collaboration with the Rice School of Engineering.

Eric Tygenhof, MD, FACS

Urology Team Lead

Dr. Tygenhof received his bachelor of arts from Stanford University, earned his degree in medicine from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, and did his residency at the USC Institute of Urology.

He is a board-certified urologist and fellow of the American College of Surgeons, specializing in general urology with a particular emphasis in stone disease and robotic surgery, and practices in Fullerton, California, as a partner at Southland Urology.

Dr. Tygenhof has served in leadership roles at St. Jude Medical Center, Fullerton, in the capacity of medical director of urologic surgery, medical director of the St. Jude Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center, and vice chair of surgery.

April Armstrong, MD, MPH

Director of Clinical Data and Outcomes

Dr. April Armstrong is a Clinical Data and Outcomes Consultant at ModMed^®, as well as Vice Chair of Clinical Research, Director of Clinical Trials and Outcomes Research and Director of Psoriasis Clinic at the Department of Dermatology, University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Armstrong’s expertise includes outcomes research, psoriasis and technology-enabled healthcare delivery. Dr. Armstrong obtained a doctor of medicine (MD) from Harvard Medical School and completed her dermatology residency at the Harvard Dermatology Residency Program. She has authored over 130 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has been an editor for the top pharmacology textbook, Principles of Pharmacology. Dr. Armstrong believes that good clinical practice needs to be rooted in evidence-based medicine.

Dr. Armstrong has extensive experience applying bioinformatics tools to extract clinical information from electronic medical record (EMR) systems and analyzing that data for epidemiologic research in psoriasis. She has analyzed and published on EMR-based data at Harvard and the University of California. For example, working with bioinformatics collaborators, she examined the association between psoriasis and severity of hypertension using a multi-stage data extraction process from the UCD EMR system and validated the findings. She has also identified various cardiovascular risk factors and outcomes that are elevated in psoriasis patients. Her analysis of EMR-based data has resulted in multiple publications in high-impact journals that advanced the field.

Schweiger Dermatology Group is the largest dermatology provider in the Northeast. Before we used Clara, we were primarily a telephone based company. We had a central call center, but there was a lot of delay in communications. One of the biggest challenges we face as a practice is the, we call it like the endless circle of phone tag with our patients where, you know, a patient calls in, we send in a request to our clinical team. They have to then call the patient back and they're leaving a voicemail. Patient then calls back and that loop continues again and again. Clara does a great job of trying to prevent phone tag. It makes it easy for the patient. The interface with Clara is very straightforward. It's nice that they don't need a password to log in, that it can be done right through their text messaging, which pretty much everybody's comfortable with now. There's not a lot of extra button pushing, not a lot of extra web pages to scroll to, no app to download. It's really very easy to use. Once we implemented Clara, we put the patient in direct contact with the provider, cutting out the middleman and the message taking, and patients were able to get answers right away. We've saved hundreds and hundreds of hours of phone calls. I think one of the ways that Clara differentiates themselves from other platforms is their transparency. The ability to see all of the conversation between a patient, everything internally and externally that's happening between a staff member and a patient really allows everybody to be in the know and take any action needed. They seek to understand our problem and they come to us with really creative solutions. They've been an amazing partner from the beginning. Using Clara has definitely improved our revenue because we've been able to increase our numbers of patients. It does give the patient a little bit more control, is something you don't generally see in antiquated medical communications. Clara really does show innovation. Martha Holzworth serves as the team lead for podiatry where she focuses on designing and developing foot- and ankle-focused content for podiatrists and orthopedic specialists. She is a board-certified foot and ankle specialist practicing in Boca Raton, where she’s on staff at Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Boca Raton Outpatient Laser and Surgery Center.

Holzworth completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, graduating cum laude. She then earned her doctorate degree at Barry University where she served as president of the Florida Podiatric Medical Student Association. Holzworth then went on to complete an extensive three-year surgical residency, specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida.

She is an advocate for conservative management to restore pain-free activity and performs minimally invasive surgery such as ankle arthroscopy and endoscopic surgery for heel pain. As a marathon runner herself, she understands the needs of athletes and the importance of strong feet for healthy living and optimal performance. She enjoys running and has completed six full marathons and multiple national and international half-marathons and triathlons.

During her residency training, Holzworth received advanced training in flatfoot reconstruction, trauma, wound care and diabetic limb salvage, with an added credential in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. She specializes in surgical and nonsurgical treatments of many conditions of the foot and ankle.

Veronica A. Diaz, MD

MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF ORTHOPEDICS

Dr. Veronica Diaz serves as the Medical Director of Orthopedics where she helps with the development of the orthopedic platform and works with clients to help improve the software solution.

Dr. Diaz has been in private practice since 2010. She has extensive experience in the treatment of degenerative, traumatic, and sports-related conditions of the shoulder and upper extremity. Her practice includes a particular emphasis on shoulder arthroscopy for the management of rotator cuff disease, shoulder replacement, and reconstructive procedures for the elbow, wrist, and hand.

Dr. Diaz graduated from Princeton University with a degree in molecular biology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Florida and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Diaz then completed an accredited fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery in Pittsburgh. She is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Diaz holds several clinical advisory and consulting positions in the healthcare and health technology space. Her interests outside of orthopedic surgery and ModMed® include travel, reading, surfing, and improving efficiency and sustainability in healthcare delivery.

Aneesh Singla, MD, MPH

MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF PAIN MANAGEMENT

Dr. Aneesh Singla is the Medical Director of Pain Management for ModMed®. He is experienced in the most advanced minimally invasive treatments for chronic pain, including spinal cord stimulation, kyphoplasty, radiofrequency lesioning and various other treatments for low back pain.

Dr. Singla attended medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with honors, and also obtained a masters in public health, focusing on health policy and administration. During his residency in Anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Singla also completed a fellowship at the Partners Institute for Health Policy, where he conducted research in patient safety and other health policy research. Dr. Singla served as the chair of the Massachusetts Medical Society Resident and Fellow Section, and was a member of the Board of Directors (Committee on Publications) for the New England Journal of Medicine.

After his residency, Dr. Singla completed an interventional pain fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, both affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He continues to serve on the physician faculty with the title of Lecturer at Harvard Medical School and is currently practicing at National Spine & Pain Centers in Maryland.

Dr. Singla has published several articles in the medical literature and has performed research in pain medicine. He has also had several appearances in the media, including newspaper and television, to address public health issues.

Dr. April Armstrong is a Clinical Data and Outcomes Consultant at ModMed®, as well as Vice Chair of Clinical Research, Director of Clinical Trials and Outcomes Research and Director of Psoriasis Clinic at the Department of Dermatology, University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Armstrong’s expertise includes outcomes research, psoriasis and technology-enabled healthcare delivery. Dr. Armstrong obtained a doctor of medicine (MD) from Harvard Medical School and completed her dermatology residency at the Harvard Dermatology Residency Program. She has authored over 130 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has been an editor for the top pharmacology textbook, Principles of Pharmacology. Dr. Armstrong believes that good clinical practice needs to be rooted in evidence-based medicine.

Arnold G. Levy, MD

Gastroenterology Advisor

Dr. Arnold Levy’s medical career spans 40 years, beginning in Montgomery County, Maryland, in 1977. In that time, he has cared for patients with a wide range of digestive disorders, performed thousands of endoscopic procedures devoted his time to advancing digestive health care as a member of the National Digestive Diseases Advisory Board and the Board of the National Digestive Disease Information Clearing House and as the immediate past President of the Maryland Patient Care and Access Coalition. He also maintains an academic appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

In 2006 as the healthcare provider environment was growing more complex, Dr. Levy joined forces with colleagues across the Washington Metropolitan area to lead discussions on how to address the challenges in their industry. In 2009 Capital Digestive Care was formed through the merger of seven diverse private practices and Dr. Levy was elected President and CEO where he served until 2017.

Dr. Levy obtained his BA in 1968 and MD in 1971 both with distinction and both from The George Washington University, in Washington, DC.

David A. Goldman, MD

Dr. David Goldman is the Ophthalmology Team Lead for the Anterior Segment. In addition, he is founder of Goldman Eye in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Dr. Goldman received his bachelor of arts cum laude and with distinction in all subjects from Cornell University and doctor of medicine with distinction in research from the Tufts School of Medicine, where he was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. This was followed by a medical internship at Mt. Sinai – Cabrini Medical Center in New York City. He then completed his residency and cornea fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Fla. Dr. Goldman served on the Young Physicians and Residents committee for ASCRS, as well as councilor for the ASCRS to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and was president of the Palm Beach County Ophthalmology Society for two years. During his tenure on faculty at the #1 eye hospital in the country, Dr. Goldman quickly became the second highest volume surgeon out of over 40 faculty members. He has been awarded Top 150 Surgeons in the United States by Premier Surgeon, Best Doctor, Top 40 Under 40 Most Influential Ophthalmologists in the World by The Ophthalmologist, one of the top 20 physicians in Palm Beach County by the Palm Beach County Medical Society and one of the top 300 premier surgeon innovators in refractive cataract surgery by Ocular Surgery News. He has lectured nationally and internationally on cataract and refractive topics.

Dr. Goldman’s clinical practice encompasses medical, refractive and non-refractive surgical diseases of the cornea, anterior segment and lens. His research interests include advances in cataract and refractive technology, dry eye management and Internet applications of ophthalmology.

Jason Weisstein, MD, MPH, FACS

ORTHOPEDICS CONSULTANT

Dr. Jason Weisstein serves as an orthopedics consultant for ModMed®. A native of Southern California, he graduated Valedictorian from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City in 1998. Simultaneous with his medical education, Dr. Weisstein received a Masters of Public Health at Columbia University in New York, NY. He subsequently completed his surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of California, San Francisco and then went on to receive fellowship training at the University of Washington. Dr. Weisstein specializes in joint replacement and limb salvage surgery. His interest lies in the restoration of function in limbs that are in jeopardy, either from arthritis, tumors or other diseases. He currently serves as a hip and knee surgeon and musculoskeletal oncologist at the Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Previously, Dr. Weisstein directed one of the largest joint replacement programs in California at Eisenhower Desert Orthopedic Center. Before that, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Washington, with a dual specialization in hip and knee reconstruction, as well as bone and soft tissue tumors. While in Washington, Dr. Weisstein trained orthopedic surgery residents and co-directed the orthopedic oncology fellowship. He has presented original research at both the national and international levels, and has published in major textbooks and journals. Dr. Weisstein’s most recent accolade includes being voted by his clinical peers as one of Castle Connolly’s top orthopedic doctors for 2015. He serves as a consultant editor for the journals Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, and Orthopedics. Dr. Weisstein was selected as a Fellow by both the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, elite societies reserved for highly trained surgeons who adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards. Dr. Weisstein also serves as an elected member of the Tumor and Metabolic Bone Disease Committee of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Jonathan Criss, MD

MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF OPHTHALMOLOGY

Dr. Jonathan Criss is the Medical Director of Ophthalmology. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist whose clinical practice encompasses comprehensive eye care including the medical and surgical evaluation and management of cataract, glaucoma, corneal diseases, eyelid abnormalities and posterior segment pathology.

Dr. Criss graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University. He attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and was the recipient of multiple merit scholarships. He performed his medical internship at Pennsylvania Hospital – University of Pennsylvania Medical System.

Dr. Criss completed his residency in ophthalmology at Stanford University and was elected chief resident in his final year. Following four years in a thriving private practice including an adjunct appointment at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, he joined ModMed® and now practices in Boca Raton and Boynton Beach, Fla. Dr. Criss has been an invited speaker at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and other meetings. He has authored several papers, book chapters and presentations on topics as varied as eye trauma, ocular tumors and resident surgical training.

Dr. Criss is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. In addition, he is an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences at the Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine.

Jordan Miller, MD

Dr. Jordan Miller is the Senior Medical Director of Dermatology. As one of the first ModMed® clients, he quickly became a “super-user.” Today, as a practicing dermatologist, Dr. Miller leads development of the dermatology-specific electronic health record system and works with clients to create specialty-specific software.

Julie Carter, MD, MPH

MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF GASTROENTEROLOGY

Dr. Julie Carter is the Medical Director of Gastroenterology and is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internist. She received her bachelor of arts in human biology with honors from Stanford University, her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and her masters in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Carter completed her internship and residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in gastroenterology at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Carter serves as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, and Associate Professor of Clinical Biomedical Science, in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Dr. Carter has also held numerous academic positions including as Clinical and Research Fellow in Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Assistant Regional Dean for Student Affairs at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSM), formerly at FAU. Her extensive research experience includes positions at the University of Southern California Medical School, the University of California at San Francisco, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Stanford University and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Carter has published numerous articles and abstracts in top-tier journals and has presented her work at various research and medical meetings.

Dr. Carter is currently a member of the Florida Medical Association, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the American Gastroenterological Association. Among the awards Dr. Carter has received include the American Medical Women’s Association’s “Exceptional Mentor Award” and the “Faculty Appreciation Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Education of Students” and “Excellence in Teaching Awards” from the UMMSM, formerly at FAU. Dr. Carter is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and volunteers her gastroenterology services at the Caridad Center in Boynton Beach, Fla., which provides care to the underserved.

Matthew Stiebel, MD, FRCSC

ORTHOPEDICS TEAM LEAD

Dr. Matthew Stiebel is the team lead for Orthopedics. He is also a partner at Palm Beach Sports Medicine. After receiving undergraduate and medical school degrees at Yale University, he completed an orthopedic surgery residency at McGill University and a subspecialty fellowship in sports medicine at Boston University. His specialties include complex shoulder and knee injuries.

Dr. Stiebel has published papers and book chapters on specialty surgeries of the knee and shoulder. He is an associate master instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America, where he instructs both arthroscopic shoulder and patellofemoral knee courses for surgeons in the United States and internationally. He has lectured to the International Patellofemoral Study Group in London and New York City, and has worked with patellofemoral implant design companies. His other current interest involves the repair of pectoralis major muscle tears and their subsequent outcomes. While in Montreal, Dr. Stiebel worked with the Montreal Canadians Hockey team and Expos Baseball team. During his fellowship time in Boston, he was able to serve as team physician for the NCAA championship Boston University men’s hockey team, UMASS Boston Hockey, as well as work with the World Wrestling Entertainment Summer Slam Series. Locally, Dr. Stiebel stays active in the community by serving as team physician for several high school football and gymnastics programs.

Dr. Steven I. Rosenfeld, MD, FACS, is the Chair of Ophthalmology for ModMed®, and was involved from the very beginning in the design and implementation of the ophthalmology EHR system. Dr. Rosenfeld, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in medical and surgical diseases of the cornea, infectious and inflammatory eye diseases, refractive surgery and cataract surgery. He has been in private practice with Delray Eye Associates, PA, since 1985. Dr. Rosenfeld currently serves as a Voluntary Professor on the clinical faculty at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he has been on the faculty since completing his fellowship. Dr. Rosenfeld earned his undergraduate degree with honors at the Johns Hopkins University and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He obtained his medical degree at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Barnes/Jewish Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and a Heed Foundation Fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.

Dr. Rosenfeld has authored dozens of textbook chapters and scientific articles on the topics of cataract surgery, refractive surgery, corneal transplant surgery and ocular infections. He has co-authored two recent textbooks—one on lens and cataract surgery and one on refractive surgery—under the auspices of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is on the editorial review boards of EyeNet magazine and Focal Points Clinical Modules and is a reviewer for Ophthalmology and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. Dr. Rosenfeld has been honored with numerous awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, including the Achievement Award, Senior Achievement Award, Secretariat for Education Award and Lifelong Education for the Ophthalmologist Award. He is also a recipient of the Physician’s Recognition Award from the American Medical Association and is listed as one of the best doctors in Best Doctors in America, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Top Doctors and Florida Super Doctors, just to name a few. Dr. Rosenfeld frequently lectures at ophthalmic meetings nationwide.

Dr. Davis earned his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University, his Master in Health Administration from Cornell University and his Doctor of Medicine from University of Arizona College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency. He completed his fellowship in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery at Southwest Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists.

Andrew Rosenthal, MD

MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF PLASTIC SURGERY

Dr. Andrew Rosenthal is the Medical Director of Plastic Surgery. He is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been practicing in Palm Beach County since 2004.

Dr. Rosenthal attended undergraduate at Duke University, medical school at Tulane University and completed his internship at University of Miami. He completed his plastic & reconstructive surgery training at the University of Michigan and a two-year fellowship in craniofacial research in an NIH core lab. Dr. Rosenthal also created a device that helps prevent positional head deformities in children.

In addition to his clinical practice, he is principal investigator on several FDA drug trials aimed at reducing human scarring through mRNA and protein inhibition, as well as a consultant for insurance companies for case review. Dr. Rosenthal is president of the Reed O. Dingman Society, the alumni society of the section of Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

Dr. Rosenthal has received local and national recognition from ABC, NBS, PBS, CBS, Sun Sentinel, Palm Beach Post and Boca Raton News particularly for his work with breast reconstruction and breast cancer fundraising. He is also a frequent guest on the Paul and Young Ron Show, the largest morning radio show in South Florida, as its “official plastic surgeon.”
