Modernizing Medicine Achieves #1 Ranking for Two Additional Specialties on Black Book Market Research Lists for Top EHR Vendors in 2015

Boca Raton, FL – August 13, 2015 – Modernizing Medicine, Inc., creator of the Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA™), announced that EMA Otolaryngology® and EMA Orthopedics® have joined EMA Dermatology® as the top ranked electronic health record (EHR) systems on the Black Book Market Research Top EHR lists for their respective specialties in 2015.

In addition, the EHR system developed by recent acquisition target, gMed’s gGastro, also achieved #1 ranking on the Black Book Market Research Top EHR list for gastroenterology.

Black Book Rankings conducted a wide-ranging six-month user poll to determine the highest ranked EHR software systems for 2015. As part of a special research focus on implemented EHR system users, Black Book revealed industry trends and announced those vendors with the highest scores in client experience among ENT and orthopedic specialists. Modernizing Medicine ranked as the top ENT Physician Practice EHR Vendor and the top Orthopedic Surgery Physician Practice EHR Vendor.

“Having EMA Otolaryngology and EMA Orthopedics – plus EMA Dermatology for the second consecutive year – earn the #1 rankings by Black Book is an extremely gratifying accomplishment,” said Daniel Cane, CEO and co-founder of Modernizing Medicine. “This is a testament that our model of pairing practicing physicians with software developers to create best-of-breed EHR systems for specialty practices is a successful approach.”

As with Modernizing Medicine’s other EHR systems, EMA Otolaryngology and EMA Orthopedics are both cloud-based, native iPad applications and allow users to access the systems via the Internet virtually anywhere, at any time. Adaptive learning, combined with EMA’s touch-screen interface and built-in ICD-10 capabilities, enables providers to efficiently run their practices and complete coding for billing along with exam notes. In addition, the fact that the otolaryngology EHR and orthopedics EHR systems collect structured data supports industry movements towards quality of care reporting and outcome-based reimbursements, including Meaningful Use and PQRS.

Last month, Modernizing Medicine announced its intended acquisition of gMed, developer of the market-leader gastroenterology EHR system gGastro, as well as endoscopy report writer, practice management solution, patient portal, data analytics tools and revenue cycle management system. Along with Modernizing Medicine, gMed was recognized by Black Book Market Research as the #1 EHR Vendor for Gastroenterology.
