Modernizing Medicine Announces Practice Management Solution at Second Annual Users Conference

Leading specialty EMR system vendor enhances offerings with practice management solution and revenue cycle management (RCM) for all specialties, plus other advances

Boca Raton, FL – December 5, 2015Modernizing Medicine, Inc., creator of the Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA™), announced its long-awaited Practice Management solution today at the company’s second annual EMA Nation Users Conference. The gathering of over 1,000 Modernizing Medicine customers, partners and fans provided the perfect venue to showcase the system. It was designed to modernize practice management in the same way EMA modernized the specialty-specific electronic medical record (EMR) market.

Building on the success Modernizing Medicine has achieved by employing specialty physicians to design and code its EMR system, the company’s PM system was designed and built by the company’s own practice management professionals. A natural extension of EMA, the system allows the company to deliver an all-in-one solution for improved patient and office flows for the front desk, patient billing, practice administrators and medical staff. With a fresh, data-centric approach to billing, ModMed PM can help to improve accounts receivable, while generating metrics-driven reports to measure financial and operational success.

Modernizing Medicine customers participated in the development of the company’s PM system to ensure it answered the call to be flexible, helpful, intuitive and efficient, just like EMA. “PM has solved our problems and is integrated with EMA Dermatology for a seamless patient flow from beginning to end of the visit. It is amazing how the communication amongst the staff has improved by using this all-in-one system. The layout is easy to navigate, enhancing our workflow and making everyone more efficient,” said Victoria A. Cirillo-Hyland, MD, of Bryn Mawr Skin & Cancer Institute in Pennsylvania.

Modernizing Medicine also made these other significant announcements:

  • Revenue Cycle Management will be available for all EMA specialties in 2016. The team approach of people, process and technology that has been so successful for dermatology and gastroenterology will be expanded to streamline billing and revenue management for ophthalmology, orthopedics and other specialty practices.
  • Modernizing Medicine is now a PQRS registry.
  • The company’s first annual hackathon engaged dozens of users with company co-founders, leadership, physicians, product managers, user experience designers, and web and mobile engineers to enhance EMA. Users helped develop solutions in five areas: patient engagement, previous findings, advanced patient search, chief complaint/HPI and the patient clipboard.

“We have experienced significant growth in adoption of our EMR system, and now by offering a practice management system and RCM services, we can give our clients the all-in-one solution they have been asking us for,” said Daniel Cane, CEO and co-founder of Modernizing Medicine. “Our annual users conference offers a special environment to build and foster lasting relationships with hundreds of Modernizing Medicine’s customers while providing deep, meaningful education to attendees and invaluable feedback for our team. In addition to announcing and demonstrating PM at the event, we are pleased to showcase other major technological advancements of our data-driven system such as Modernizing Medicine’s Pathology solution, ModMed Telehealth™ and Apple Watch app to further help physician specialists achieve better treatment outcomes and improve business results for their practices.”

The Modernizing Medicine users conference features educational sessions for continued learning regarding EMR system best practices, mobile health, telemedicine, ICD-10, value-based care and other industry trends; networking opportunities to engage with other users and provide product feedback for future enhancements with EMA product managers, company leaders and others; plus pure social events.

More than 15 sponsors support the conference, which is open to all EMA users, including doctors, medical assistants, physician assistants, administrative staff and IT personnel, across specialties of dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, urology and plastic surgery.

Dr. Zubin Damania, more popularly known as the inspiring and energizing thought leader, speaker and entertainer ZDoggMD, performed at the keynote for the event, being held December 5 – 6, 2015, at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek in Orlando, FL.
