Boca Raton, FL – May 5, 2015 – Modernizing Medicine, Inc., the creator of the Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA™), a cloud-based, specialty-specific electronic medical record (EMR) system, today announced the South Florida Business Journal (SFBJ) selected it as a “Business of the Year.” This comes just a few months after the publication named it the region’s “Best Place to Work” for large companies.
Judges take into consideration a number of factors to determine the “Business of the Year” winners, including financial growth, community involvement and employee benefit programs. Nominees are divided into six categories based on size, with Modernizing Medicine winning in the “101 – 400 employees” category. In 2012, the company received the award for the “H. Wayne Huizenga Startup Award” category.

In particular, the judges took note of the number of accomplishments Modernizing Medicine has seen over the past year. In December, it completed an acquisition of California-based Aesyntix Health, which expanded Modernizing Medicine’s portfolio to include specialty-specific revenue cycle management, billing and inventory management services. The company hosted over 1,000 clients, partners and employees at its inaugural users conference, EMA Nation, and also closed its Series D funding of approximately $20 million.
Modernizing Medicine has been recognized as a top business by several other organizations, recently receiving a gold “Best in Biz” award, the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 “Business of the Year” award, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “Blue Ribbon Small Business” award and one of America’s Most Promising Companies by Forbes.
