Physician efficiency and patient empowerment focus of easy-to-use, interactive application
Boca Raton, Fla. – November 16, 2017 – Specialty-specific health information technology leader, Modernizing Medicine, Inc., announced its ModMed Kiosk solution has won the People’s Choice Award at The 6th UX Awards Summit in Palo Alto, Calif. The Overall People’s Choice Award is chosen by the UX Awards community as the overall favorite, based on highest average vote by popular vote.
A native iPad application, ModMed Kiosk is designed for patients to perform self-service tasks, such as completing patient intake forms, at the doctor’s office. Kiosk is designed to empower providers to engage patients early on and directly involve them in their own care, reduce potential errors from illegible documentation while populating the patient’s electronic health record. Patients can tap through intuitive prompts on the iPad, allowing them to instantly access and update their personal, medical and pharmacy information rather than filling out cumbersome paperwork.
Nathan Cleaver, D.O., Cleaver Dermatology shared, “ModMed Kiosk is simple to use and has saved us between 10 to 15 minutes per new patient. Our medical staff can now focus on the patients and not on the paperwork.”
The award was received by members of the UX team including, Mike Carter, Mobile Technical Lead; Busra Demirci, Senior User Experience Designer, Andrew Schall, User Experience Manager, and Mihai Fonoage, Associate Vice President of Mobile Strategy & UX.
“ModMed Kiosk is another major step in our company’s efforts to achieve a paperless medical practice,” said Mihai Fonoage, associate vice president of mobile strategy and user experience at Modernizing Medicine. “With our development of Kiosk, we focused on the empathetic approach of the patient experience with a user design methodology. By doing this and offering Kiosk, we help to empower the patient to become part of the larger healthcare conversation.”
This technology comes at a good time for both patients and physicians. Patients are increasingly dissatisfied with the amount of time and effort they’re spending on recounting medical information and waiting in doctors’ offices or pharmacies, according to a recent study.*
