Modernizing Medicine Showcases Latest Advancements with EMA Orthopedics EMR System at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting 2015

Built-in, Effortless ICD-10 Coding and PQRS Automation in Specialty-specific EMR System

Boca Raton, Florida – March 25, 2015 – Modernizing Medicine, Inc., the creator of the Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA™), a cloud-based, iPad native, specialty-specific electronic medical record (EMR) system, will showcase the latest advancements with EMA Orthopedics at this year’s American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting. This follows the company’s completion of its $20M Series D financing announced last week.

Designed and developed by orthopedic physicians for orthopedic physicians, EMA Orthopedics is available as a native iPad application and can be accessed via the Internet virtually anywhere and anytime, giving providers the freedom they need to efficiently run their practices. EMA Orthopedics includes automated and advanced ICD-10 coding, Meaningful Use and PQRS reporting capabilities, in addition to EMA’s Grand Rounds™, which helps to eliminate redundancies and automate communications.

“Our EMA Orthopedics platform is designed with intricate detail in order to incorporate the complexity of the orthopedics space,” said Daniel Cane, CEO and co-founder of Modernizing Medicine. “EMA Orthopedics not only allows physicians to access information and data almost anywhere at any time, it has fully automated ICD-10 coding and comprehensive Meaningful Use capabilities. In addition, EMA Orthopedics now includes workers compensation for some states.”

Modernizing Medicine built EMA Orthopedics with an adaptive learning engine which is able to adjust to each provider’s unique practice style in real time, pulling up the surgeon’s most frequently used diagnoses and treatment plans first. The orthopedic surgeons behind EMA Orthopedics understand each physician is extremely detailed when it comes to an examination, and this is accounted for in the Virtual Exam Room™. From the exam, to diagnosis, to treatment plans, all relevant information is on one screen.

“Since implementing EMA Orthopedics into my practice, the technology has improved office efficiencies immensely, ” said Dr. Jason Weisstein, a practicing orthopedic surgeon and a member of the team that developed EMA Orthopedics. “I anticipate ICD-10 to be a seamless transition since the level of detail and information is already built into the system. What’s more, because EMA Orthopedics allows me to track my patient’s progress in real-time, I am more confident with the new outcome-based payment system put in place by CMS. Overall it’s an extremely helpful resource to both myself and the overall workflow of my practice.”

Dr. Jason Weisstein and other members of the EMA Orthopedics team will provide demonstrations at Modernizing Medicine booth #4616 during the Annual AAOS meeting in Las Vegas taking place from Wednesday, March 25 – Friday, March 27. For more information about EMA Orthopedics, please visit the Modernizing Medicine website.
