Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery (ADCS) Selects Modernizing Medicine’s Dermatology EMR System and Analytics Solution

Nation’s largest dermatology provider benefits from specialty EHR, automated reporting tools, built-in pathology module, near real-time peer benchmarking and more

Boca Raton, Fla. – February 14, 2018 – Specialty-specific health information technology leader, Modernizing Medicine, Inc., today announced that the nation’s largest dermatology practice, Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery (ADCS), has chosen Modernizing Medicine’s electronic health record (EHR) system, EMA™, and Analytics solution for all of its locations.

Founded in 1989 by Dr. Matt Leavitt, ADCS is the largest dermatology practice in the U.S., with over 180 clinics and 385 board-certified and fellowship-trained dermatologists, Mohs surgeons, plastic surgeons and mid-level providers. Over the years, ADCS has acquired many practices; some use EMA and others do not. After surveying all of the systems used among the multiple practices, ADCS leadership decided that EMA and Analytics would be the systems of choice to help streamline processes and improve clinical, operational and financial outcomes across its expansive and growing network.

“After an extensive search of dermatology EHR systems we determined that nothing compares to the usability and efficiency we’ve experienced with EMA. Dermatologists created it, so I feel confident that the system encompasses the specialty-specific features our providers need to deliver quality care,” said Dr. Leavitt. “We required a complete yet flexible solution that could take administrative frustrations away from our dermatologists and enable them to concentrate on the patient. EMA’s ability to accurately document patient encounters and perform robust performance analytics made it a clear choice for our practice.”

In today’s value-based healthcare landscape, dermatology practices require a platform to help them manage and evaluate patient outcomes, financial performance and operational efficiency. One of the first EHR systems to include built in a MIPS intelligence platform*, EMA also offers intuitive benchmarking reports through its in-depth data analysis platform, Analytics. Facilitated by capturing structured data at the point of care, specialists can identify and track key administrative, provider and financial analytics to uncover actionable insights.

Dr. Leavitt continues: “EMA is really easy to learn, and our decision to have an educator come onsite during training was invaluable. We haven’t found a decrease in patient visits while we’re getting up to speed. We have received excellent customer service and it’s clear they prioritize their customers. We recommend Modernizing Medicine and EMA to any dermatology practice, big or small, that is waiting to choose the right EHR system.”

ADCS also benefits from Modernizing Medicine’s Pathology module, as dermatologists can send requisitions, track them through the lab workflow and receive dermatopathology results. Additionally, ADCS has streamlined prescription processes through EMA’s ePrescribing feature, as it automatically writes and queues new ePrescriptions based on patient documents and past treatment regimens.

“Dr. Leavitt and Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery have shown tremendous leadership and innovation in the dermatology field, and we’re honored they chose Modernizing Medicine to support their growth,” said Dr. Michael Sherling, chief medical and strategy officer and co-founder of Modernizing Medicine.
