Enhanced gGastro and gPM capabilities to help reduce patient no-shows, provide point-of-care cost estimates and speed lab orders will be on display at ACG 2019

October 22, 2019 – Boca Raton, Fla. – Specialty-specific healthcare IT company, Modernizing Medicine® Gastroenterology, formerly gMed®, will showcase the latest innovations to its leading gastroenterology electronic health record (EHR) system, gGastro®, and practice management solution, gPM™, at the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) 2019 Meeting. ACG 2019 will take place October 25-30 in San Antonio, Texas, where attendees will have the opportunity to connect with the Modernizing Medicine Gastroenterology team, as well as demo the gastroenterology software at booth #720.

At the show, Modernizing Medicine Gastroenterology will showcase the most recent updates to its gastroenterology suite, including its expanded mobile EHR app solution, gGastro Mobile.

Launched in May 2018, over a quarter of Modernizing Medicine Gastroenterology clients currently leverage the app, and usage continues to increase rapidly. New capabilities in gGastro Mobile on display at ACG include the ability to monitor and manage patient tasks directly from the app and capture hospital or off-site visit charges through the now integrated gCharge™ solution. Providers can also view their upcoming schedule and procedures, as well as patient data and medical records from the convenience of their phone. The mobile platform allows users to sign in through biometric verification for enhanced security.

Other notable enhancements to the gGastro suite include:

  • gEstimator™: gPM practice management software now has a built-in estimation tool, gEstimator, which adds visibility to patients’ out-of-pocket expenses. This new feature allows staff members to provide patients with cost estimates in seconds, helping eliminate the need for phone calls or faxes. Working directly with the clearinghouse, gEstimator considers a wide range of factors including the patient’s insurance plan and previous balance to generate an itemized report of cost, making collections easier and helping patients feel more involved in the care process.
  • gReminder+™ and gSurvey™: Patient engagement tools gReminder+ and gSurvey interface with gPM and are designed to help practices reduce no-show rates and improve patient satisfaction while helping save valuable staff time. gReminder+ enables practices to confirm appointments with automated texts, emails and phone calls, share reminders for upcoming appointments, and update patients with schedule changes. gSurvey deploys automated surveys after appointments to capture feedback. Both tools offer bidirectional interfaces with gPM so teams can easily view patient confirmations and cancellations, as well as survey results through the practice management system.

Pamela Isabel, MS, CMPE, COO, Woodholme Gastroenterology, shared, “We are extremely pleased with gReminder+. Our patients are notified in a consistent and easily recognizable manner improving our tracking of confirmations and no-shows. We also use gSurvey, which has increased our physician reviews by 50 percent. Our physicians and staff appreciate and enjoy receiving the feedback from patients. It helps us improve our service.”

  • Bi-Directional Clinical Lab Connection: In collaboration with Change Healthcare, Modernizing Medicine Gastroenterology’s bi-directional lab connection allows physicians to electronically submit clinical lab orders and view results from connected labs within the gGastro EHR. With a single, easy-to-use interface, the solution offers connections to hundreds of regional and local clinical laboratories, offering a more efficient, standardized way to communicate with labs, hospitals and physician practices.

“We look forward to showcasing the latest updates and integrated solutions available to gGastro customers and future clients at ACG,” said Arnold G. Levy, MD, advisor for Modernizing Medicine Gastroenterology. “Recognizing how vital convenience, price transparency and patient engagement are to gastroenterology practices, we’re committed to building new, innovative offerings that help set providers and their teams up for even greater success.”

In addition to the new features and capabilities, the gGastro Endoscopy Report Writer (ERW) has been updated in response to the GI Quality Improvement Consortium’s (GIQuIC) new data reporting requirements. To meet these new requirements, new colonoscopy data fields have been added to the most recent version of gGastro’s endowriter.
